I've been a believer my whole life, attending Christian schools throughout, and familiar with the stories of Jesus on countless occasions. Having watched all Jesus movies and miniseries ever produced, numbering dozens, the question arises -- why a new TV show about Jesus?

My passion lies in enabling individuals to experience the "old, old story" anew … as if for the very first time. Upon viewing Jesus movies, it sometimes becomes challenging for me to connect emotionally or be stirred. The tales have been heard repeatedly, and numerous Jesus projects merely present a series of Bible stories without delving into the humanity and backgrounds of each character. Often feeling rigid and ceremonial.

Thus, when we embarked on creating a series that delves into Jesus through the lens of those surrounding Him, we were consistently moved and elated. We delved into the backstories of Simon Peter, Matthew, Mary Magdalene, Nicodemus, and several recipients of Jesus' miracles, encountering Him as they did. Their impetuosity, troubled histories, religious fervor, and yearning for transformation all resonated with us profoundly—and ultimately, their redemption.

One particularly cherished response from an initial screening was: "The story of Jesus that genuinely captivated my teenagers!" Regardless of where you stand in your relationship with Christ—be it among those in the gospels who met Jesus after enduring a tumultuous past without Him or akin to Nicodemus having been a lifelong devotee—Jesus repeatedly demonstrated that there is much to absorb and countless characteristics in need of change.

We aspire for this series to allow you to perceive Jesus as they did.
